Why Should I Get A Website?

Quite simply, having a website is possibly the best and certainly the most convenient way to find out more about a product or service you wish to research. People also use websites to research local amenities and to buy all sorts of goods online. If you don't have a website you are automatically cutting yourself off from a large portion of consumers.

Having a website is the next best thing to meeting someone to get a feel for what their business is like and what kind of service they can expect. A website could be a way of informing people about services you offer, persuading people to buy products or services from you or even selling your products or services online.

What Is Involved?

Firstly you will need to decide on a domain name. (See What is a Domain Name?) Registration of your domain name will cost between £9.95 and £14.95 and could be for one or two years. This depends on whether you want a .co.uk address or a .com address or a .net address etc. This fee is paid upfront and then the domain name is yours for as long as you want it, although you will have to renew your registration at the end of the one or two year period. We can both register and renew your domain name for you, or you can register your domain name yourself here.

Once you have your domain name you need to organise website hosting. (See What is Web Hosting?) This is normally a monthly fee which costs from around £5 depending on the size of your website. It is also possible to pay for 12 months hosting upfront, if you wish. We can host your website for you which makes the whole process easier for you.

Next you need to get your website designed. We can also do this for you! Contact us now for your free no obligation quote. Normally we ask clients to provide the content for their websites because you know more about your business than anyone else. However if you feel unable or don't want to do this we can provide copyrighting for an extra fee.

What is a Domain Name?

A "Domain Name" is the name by which the Internet links to the computer on which your website is stored. You will need to purchase a domain name in order to publish your website on the Internet. Providing that someone doesn't already own the domain you want this can be anything. The limit is only your imagination. Our domain is digispheremedia.co.uk we also bought digispheremedia.com as .co.uk and .com are the most commonly used and people can easily input one or the other automatically so to prevent people not being able to find your website it is wise to purchase both. We can register your chosen domain on your behalf or you can register it yourself here.

What is Website Hosting?

Once you've got your website you need to be able to publish it on the Internet. Hosting services provide the hardware and software you need to store, maintain and present your website. You are effectively renting space on a computer on which to store your information and from which people can access your website on the Internet. We can host your website for you so there is no need to worry about this. To look at our website hosting price plans click here.

What Should I Bring to the Meeting?

When you set up a meeting with one of our web designers it is wise to think about a few things beforehand and maybe even jot down some notes so you can tell the web designer everything that he or she needs to know.
